Right now: no country-independent toll box at the start of the Belgian toll

By 1 April 2016, a new, satellite-controlled tolls system will take effect in Belgium. Currently, the only certified mode of payment is the Satellic Box issued by the tolls operator under the same name. In September 2015 the technical specifications required for incorporating boxes issued by third parties were released by Viapass. “Too late for us to be able to introduce a country-independent toll box guaranteed to function straight from the start of this new tolls system”, says Gertjan Breij, managing director at DKV Euro Service Benelux. As a result, the Satellic Box has been decided on.

What you can find in the interview

  1. The Satellic Box currently is the only certified mode of payment for the new Belgian tolls system.
  2. What are the benefits of the Satellic Box: cheapest option, issued by the toll operator itself and no box fees.
  3. How is it possible that other country-independent boxes are being offered nonetheless?
  4. What are the next steps you should take regarding the Belgium Toll?

All these questions and more are answered in the full interview, which is available in different languages: Dutch, English and French.
