A trial in the region of Rotterdam in The Netherlands aimed at increasing the traffic-flow and safety on highways. During the trail inspectors of the governmental organization ‘Rijkswaterstaat’ were allowed to write tickets for two different offences. First of all for driving on a lane marked with a red cross and second for stopping on a road verge for a longer period of time without a valid reason. During this trial more than 300 fines were given to drivers, Rijkswaterstaat states that most drivers were very understanding. In February the test will be evaluated.
